The process of becoming a mother often uproots our own childhood experiences, wounds and desires. It is a refining process that encourages us to turn inward as we bond with and raise our children.

Many of us are caught off guard by the intensity of motherhood and all that is brought to the surface; we may not have the tools or confidence to befriend the emotions as they come – maybe they run the show or maybe they get pushed away.

I work with mothers navigating perinatal mental health challenges, including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, infertility, grief and loss, birth trauma, adjustment to motherhood, and ending generational cycles, as well as other experiences such as your own childhood trauma and identity shifts. Every mother’s journey is unique, and I hold deep respect for your personal experience. My goal is to help you find balance, healing, and confidence in this new chapter of life.

The key to managing emotions doesn't always lie in understanding where they come from, although, this can be helpful. Sometimes its gaining the confidence to befriend them, to trust that they will not un-do you and to let them move through your body.

We will work together to explore the feelings that have been coming up for you- to gain compassion towards them, feel them, and explore how your nervous system
has been working for you throughout your life.

While sessions are always tailored to each individual, I often draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) because it offers a flexible, compassionate framework that honors the many parts within you. IFS helps us understand how different aspects of your inner world — shaped by lived experience and past relationships — show up to protect, soothe, or motivate you.

For example:

Part of me loves being a mom more than anything, but part of me is begging for a break.
I feel so confident at work and home, but when I see my parents, I just shrink back and feel like a kid again.

Together, we’ll get to know all of your parts — the bold ones, the hurt ones, the protective ones, and the peaceful ones. Because each part carries its own story, emotion, and wisdom, connecting with them can bring deep healing and clarity.

My approach is trauma-focused and attachment-based, integrating somatic and body-centered practices to help you tune into what your body holds and needs. Through gentle awareness and regulation, we work to restore a felt sense of safety in both your body and your relationships. This mind–body connection often leads to greater self-compassion, emotional balance, and authentic connection with yourself and others.

Therapy for Moms

"Becoming a mother leaves no woman as it found her. It unravels her and rebuilds her. It cracks her open, takes her to the edges. It's both brutal and beautiful, often at the same time."

-- Nikki McCahon

About The Supported Mama and Clear Mind Therapy:

Hannah and Ashley started The Supported Mama (TSM) together in 2019. TSM was born out of a passion to support women as they transition into motherhood- originally offering birth and postpartum doula support. We have since evolved to offer childbirth education classes, baby basics classes, and - for a long time- therapy was offered under The Supported Mama as well! I made the decision to bring therapy under its own practice as a way to be inclusive for all individuals and couples seeking support. We don't *just* work with pregnant and postpartum moms and I wanted this practice to reflect that. The Supported Mama will continue to offer birth support to our community! You can always access therapy through The Supported Mama, which would bring you right here!
